Maybe your affair with found natural materials needs a rendezvous. Maybe you want to have an afternoon of play and discovery. Either way, this spring-like weather has us wanting to express our appreciation for nature. Come join Texas-based artist Taylor Barnes, as she leads us to create something magical for the home. You will leave with a Loom-as-Object, a record of time and place. Participants are encouraged to bring found materials, such as branches, leaves, saplings, lichen, etc, that have been mindfully collected. 

No experience necessary
Participants bring:
-1-1/2 ft long branches (4)
-Hammer
-found material (leaves, grass, etc) to inlay into the weaving

Instructor: Taylor Barnes is fibers MFA candidate at the University of North Texas. She is an artist working with the ideas of identity and displacement. Her work is comprised with mixed media, working with natural materials and works on cloth to create 2D and 3D works revealing her personal experiences of being African American women in Texas.

Location: Magictown Movement Studio is a charming space, nestled in the French Broad River valley, in Downtown Marshall North Carolina. Take a class with our caring & experienced teachers, small class sizes and scenic location. Enjoy, unwind & celebrate embodiment!

Access: Magictown Movement Studio is located on the second floor of a renovated high school with no elevator. There is a lift to access the first floor, and there is one flight of stairs to access the second floor.
