Cher Musico (she/her/they) is a queer, autistic Filipinx-American interdisciplinary artist. Her interdisciplinary practice explores identity, domestic labor, and community, especially within queer spaces and her Filipinix-American culture. Their creative practice involves intersectionality and evaluating her definition of home within those intersections.

“Being second-generation Filipina-American mestiza, I have been searching to understand facets of my identity by examining both my Filipino and American cultures and heritage as I re-examine objects from my childhood and my family’s collection of photographs and videos. Having grown up around frequent large Filipino celebrations centering around potlucks, it has influenced the way I view kinship and identity. My current body of work has been centered around fiber works, relating to the culture within Filipino foods. Being queer, my creative practice incorporates creating queer safe spaces and community in addition to highlighting particular perspectives within LGBTQ+ experiences. It's also been important to me to foster conversations around being neurodivergent and my autism to help highlight and reduce stigmas relating to the spectrum of diversity in addition to contrasting the privilege of diagnosis and accessibility.”
